Velvet Cardboard Anthurium

Anthurium clarinervium

Anthurium clarinervium is an incredibly popular tropical aroid, highly prized for its thick, leathery, heart-shaped leaves of a dark, velvety green. The leaves are highlighted by contrasting, bright white veins that form a geometric pattern. Unlike flowering Anthuriums, this species is grown entirely for its magnificent foliage. It requires high humidity and bright indirect light to maintain its velvet leaves.

Native Origin & Climate

Rocky limestone outcrops and tropical rainforests of Chiapas, Mexico.

Expert Pruning Tip

Trim old foliage near the base of the plant using clean, sharp scissors. Avoid tearing the petioles off the central stem.
