Ponytail Palm

Beaucarnea recurvata

Beaucarnea Recurvata, commonly known as the Ponytail Palm or Elephant's Foot, is a unique, slow-growing succulent tree native to semi-desert regions of Mexico. Despite its common name and palm-like leaves, it is actually a succulent relative of the agave. It features a bulbous trunk base that stores water, topped by a canopy of long, curling green leaves.

Native Origin & Climate

Dry, arid regions of eastern Mexico. Highly suited to sunny windowsills, dry garden beds, and balconies throughout Australia.

Expert Pruning Tip

Only prune fully brown lower leaves. Do not trim the green leaf tips unless they are dry. Never cut the top off, as it will destroy the growth point.
