Rabbit's Foot Fern

Davallia Fejeensis, widely known as the Rabbit's Foot Fern, is a unique epiphytic fern native to Fiji. It features delicate, lace-like green fronds and distinctive, furry creeping rhizomes that crawl over the sides of the pot. Resembling furry rabbit feet, these rhizomes absorb moisture and nutrients.

Beginner Friendly. Hardier and more tolerant of dry air than many other fern varieties. Enjoys hanging pots.
Bright, indirect light. Avoid hot direct sun, which drys out the furry rhizomes and burns the delicate, lacy fronds.
Moderate. Keep soil lightly moist. Water when the soil surface begins to feel dry, and mist the furry creeping rhizomes regularly.
Very porous, well-draining potting mix. A blend of standard potting soil with 30% orchid bark and 10% perlite mimics its natural tree-dwelling habitat.
Appreciates moderate to high humidity. Protect from freezing winter nights and dry winds from heating and cooling vents.
Rhizome division. Carefully cut a section of creeping rhizome with at least one or two fronds attached and pin it to moist potting mix.
