Foxtail Palm

Wodyetia bifurcata

Wodyetia Bifurcata, commonly known as the Foxtail Palm, is a spectacular palm tree native to a small, remote area in Queensland, Australia. Discovered only in the late 20th century, it has become globally famous for its smooth, self-cleaning trunk and extremely bushy, plume-like fronds that resemble a fox's tail.

Native Origin & Climate

Dry, rocky hillsides of the Cape Melville range in Queensland. Outstandingly suited to sunny coastal gardens and large pots across Australia.

Expert Pruning Tip

The trunk is self-cleaning, meaning dead fronds will drop cleanly on their own. No pruning is needed other than removing fully dried flower stalks.
